Crochet Doily (Fiber Art)

As it is December, have to crochet something in snowy white and decided upon doing a doily which I can finish fast.  As all my previous doilies are round-shaped, thought of doing a differently shaped one and came across this elegant diamond-shaped doily.  The pattern is from a Japanese magazine “Elegant Crochet Lace”, Doily No. 25.

Wild Garden Rose Doily

I made this doily by looking at the “Dublin Garden” doily picture, originally designed by Dot Drake and published in “Crochet Wishes and Wonders” by House of White Birches in January 2000.  I made a slight variation in the the final edging round. Though it may not be exactly like the original one, I liked the fact that it does look somewhat similar.

Pretty Flowery Crochet Basket

I was making a drawstring bag.  In the midst of making this bag, I came across this cute little basket 🙂 …I found this really cute and felt this deserves a separate post for its cuteness…I think there may be numerous step by step pattern instructions all through the net, but I thought of giving in between pictures of how I made it so that it will be helpful for those who want to make it at one place itself and they don’t have to go in search of pattern.

Pattern or How I made this basket 🙂 …

First make 5 square motifs of your choice.  I made these popcorn flower granny square.  For pattern, check my post

Join the squares to form a strip..

Join the end sides of the strip to form a ring…

For base of the basket, as there are five squares I made a granny pentagon (5 sides) instead of granny square…

Attach the previously made ring to the base…

Mini Crochet Doily -3

As my current projects are still in “work in progress” mode, thought of sharing one of my old doilies, which I did while learning crocheting 🙂 …looking at these, I feel contented that I have progressed a lot in crocheting 🙂 …my stitches have become more neat and clean, my projects are getting better and accurate shapes, and I’m able to understand the pattern much more clearly 🙂 …but still have a long way to go…

The pattern is called “A Touch of Irish Doily” by Jacqui Cunningham and it is available for free here in Ravelry or download this pdf document A Touch of the Irish Doily.

Bright Little Crochet Flower

Most of the time I use lighter shades of colors to crochet flowers…so this time thought of doing one in bright colors to see if it changes my mind and it indeed did 🙂 …I liked the outcome and felt the bright colors made it more attractive… maybe I should crochet flowers in bright colors too :)…I think it will go well with any fashion accessories like dresses, hairband, bags, purse, ornamental hangings etc. 🙂 …

My son helped me in taking pictures 🙂 …it was his idea to take photos of it with the butterflies 🙂 …
